The Sabbath was commemorative – the World’s Birthday, if you please. Can you change your Birthday? Of course not!  Now God could have created everything in 1 day and rested the second, or in 2 or 3 days, but He chose to do it in six days and rested and set aside the Seventh.  Did you know that Creation Week is the ONLY explanation for the Seven Day Week, and this seven day week is almost universally known on earth even far back in history and legend!

In Eden, God set up the memorial of His work of creation, in placing His blessing upon the seventh day. The Sabbath was committed to Adam, the father and representative of the whole human family. Its observance was to be an act of grateful acknowledgment, on the part of all who should dwell upon the earth, that God was their Creator and their rightful Sovereign; that they were the work of His hands and the subjects of His authority.

The Seventh day Sabbath was give to the Father of the whole human race- it was not for only some; it was for all!  Did you know that in MOST of the worlds languages the name for the Seventh day is Sabbath or something that means rest.

(In one African tribe, the name of the Seventh day is ‘God’s Day’ but since the coming of the white people to their land, Sunday is called the ‘White-man’s day”. Truly a sermon in a sentence!)
